5 Tips For Improving Your BA Resume

A great resume can increase your chances of getting shortlisted in any recruitment process. Here are five resume writing tips that can make your CV stand out as a BA.

1. Highlight your technical skills

Though technical skills are not pre-requisites to excelling as a BA, BAs do act as a bridge between the business and IT environment. Therefore, it’s important to demonstrate your understanding of technology on your CV, if you do have the experience.

2. Highlight relevant education/certification

You should demonstrate your competence and ability to hit the ground running by highlighting the certifications or relevant education you have received to prepare you for the BA role. Examples of relevant certifications are CBAP, CCBA, PMI–PBA, to mention a few

3. Highlight your soft skills

Soft skills are particularly important for interacting with stakeholders and project team members to achieve intended project outcomes. Problem solving, communication, negotiation and analytical thinking skills are particularly important to excel as a BA.

4. Address employment gaps

Don’t be tempted to reorganize your resume to hide your employment gaps. Tell an honest story and address your employment gaps; your ethics are just as important as your ability to get the job done.

5. Consider the practicality of a functional resume

If your BA experience is limited or you’re looking for a career change to business analysis, you may want to avoid using a chronological resume that lists your work experience and job titles by time. You could instead opt for a functional resume that focuses more on your business analysis skill set and less on your work history.
